Publisher Description
A lap timer with telemetry, designed with endurance auto racing in mind.
SpeedFreq was born from the WifiLapper app, but has undergone many improvements and optimizations.
For the driver, it provides an easy-to-read display, primarily displaying his "delta-time" compared to his best recorded lap. This gives instant feedback when experimenting with new driving lines.
It's a data logger as well, capturing GPS position and speed, g-forces, and interfaces to OBDII, analog signals, and heart-rate monitors. The data can be exported to a PC application (Pitside) for later analysis.
It supports the phone's internal GPS, though external ones produce much more accurate results. Bluetooth or serial-port-based GPSes can be used.
For OBDII, a simple bluetooth OBDII dongle from Amazon is all you need.
Analog signals can either be sample using RaceDAC (www.racedac.com) or by using the IOIO development board from SparkFun or Seeedstudio. The RaceDAC connection is Bluetooth, and the IOIO connection is USB, which has the added benefit of powering the phone.
Polar heart monitors using Bluetooth are supported.
It's also a race telemetry solution--using either Wifi or the cellular network, lap data is transmitted to the PC application once per lap, for immediate analysis.
It's supported on a multitude of android-powered devices, including tablets. Some tiny phones may not be fully supported.
Note: Minimum RAM: 512MB
There is a shared online database of tracks, which can be used to automatically set the Start/Finish line.
